Dear JDisc friends,

we are happy to announce our first 64 bit JDisc Discovery product. With version 4.0, JDisc Discovery can utilize more memory than before. This enables more concurrent device discoveries and thus speeds up the discovery process.

The second major features is a new and simplified installation procedure. Installing and updating JDisc Discovery was overly complicated in the past, but there was some manual tasks involved (e.g. archiving the database, backup the license file etc.). Furthermore, the separate downloads for the core package and the add-ons has been combined into one single download ZIP file. You simply choose during the installation what add-ons to install.

Apart from the major changes mentioned above, we have improved the performance for Unix based operating systems and added some more features such as the service/daemon discovery on Linux. Furthermore, reports and database backups can be uploaded to SFTP servers. Up-to-now, we could upload the database backups and reports only to Windows shares or local folders.

With the 64 bit version, we have created a better platform for our discovery products…
